I had no idea that drawer pulls could be so interesting. One day I was at home looking after my son Ben and out of boredom we decided to change the drawer pulls that were on his drawers in his room. My husband was at work and we were getting sick and tired of staying indoors with nothing to do, but the weather outside was keeping us in. We didn’t have a car either so when it came to finding something to do we were running out of ideas.
Then one day while I was putting clothes away in Ben’s drawers I noticed that one of the drawer pulls was broken. I looked around to see if we had any extra knobs and pulls, but all that we had were the pulls that were still on an older dresser that wasn’t being used anymore. So I pulled the pulls off of the old drawers and placed them on Ben’s drawers. This completely altered the look of the drawers and I asked Ben to come in and let me know if he liked them. Unfortunately he didn’t like the newer drawer pulls because the old ones had teddy bears on them and the new ones were just plain. So I decided that Ben and I would go shopping for drawer pulls when my husband came home.
We went to the furniture store and were surprised at all of the different types of pulls that they had. They had a huge wall of hundreds of different pulls that were different of styles and of different colors. Ben wasn’t really sure what he wanted he said that he wanted ones that were exactly the same as the old ones, but we couldn’t find them at the store. We finally had to pick a bunch of different ones and go home and try them on the drawers.
This is what we spent most of the next day doing. I had brought home six different knobs and pulls that Ben liked and we spent the morning changing them and trying to get a feel for them. Some of the pulls just stuck out too much, while some of the others were just dull and boring. We finally settled on a set of pulls that seemed perfect. They had clouds on them which went well with his drawers because they were the same shade of blue. It is amazing what you will do when you are bored, and everyday I try to figure out more ways that we can have fun.
